Ask me anything   I'm Leontine Greenberg. This is my personal blog of random randomness. I also paint tiny floating creatures and post-human storybook anecdotes. If you want to know more about those, see works in progress and get invited to shows, go here. You can see all of my work on flickr and more of the stuff that inspires me at pinterest. The things I like include: David Bowie, The National, Sherlockians, Stephen Fry, Dan Savage, people who make art, books and stories, and the Oxford comma.

drawriot asked: Your work is amazingly beautiful and inspirational! I feel like I am looking at another world. Your characters look so intelligent it makes me wonder what they would say if they could come to life. How long does a piece take you to illustrate and paint? Do you keep a sketchbook for ideas?

Answer:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I don’t know if those characters can talk, though.

The fastest I’ve ever done a painting was in 3 days, and the longest was probably 2 weeks?  Not counting the ones that are terrible and have to be started over.

I’m jealous of people with beautiful sketchbooks.  I do own lots of them, but they make me feel uptight, so I just tear out the pages and use the paper.  I also draw on printer paper.  And napkins and stuff.
